AOMORI BLUE あおもり藍 宇宙、そして伊勢丹へ
日本時間2010年4月5日、スペースシャトルディスカバリー号は、
日本人宇宙飛行士の山崎直子さんを乗せ、宇宙へと旅立ちました。
このとき、山崎さんとともに宇宙へと旅だった「あおもり」があるのをご存じでしょうか？
国際宇宙ステーションで山崎さんが着ていたこの美しい藍色のポロシャツ、これこそ、青森が世界に、
いや、宇宙に誇るべき「あおもり藍」の技術で染められたスゴイモノなんです。
藍染め･･･えっ？ そんなのどこにでもあるのでは？ とお考えのそこのあなた、
「あおもり藍」は、ほかの藍染めとはちょっと違う技術なんですよ～。
この技術を開発したのは、2006年に設立された「あおもり藍産業協同組合」です。
伝統的な藍染め「すくも藍」では、染料を作るのに、藍の葉っぱを乾燥させ、
その後100日くらいの時間をかけて発酵させるなどの作業がありました。
しかし、組合では、乾燥した藍の葉っぱをパウダー化して染料をつくる技法を開発し、
何と、「すくも藍」の20分の1の期間で染料を作ることに成功したのです。
さらに、「あおもり藍」による藍染めは、従来のものに比べ、
抗菌活性化物質を多く含み、抗菌性と防臭性も優れていると言われているそうです。
藩政時代に誕生したこぎん刺し。今では若い女性にも注目されているアイテムです。
藍色のキャンパスに真っ白な木綿の糸で描かれた美しい模様。
藍染めとこぎん刺しは、深い関係で結ばれています。
かつての弘前藩には100軒以上の藍染め業者があって、藍は、津軽地方の代表的な作物でした。
しかし、明治に入ってりんご栽培が始まると、徐々に藍の栽培が衰退し、
大正に入って藍の生産記録も消えてしまったそうです。
それが復活したのは、何と平成になってから。
弘前市の丸富川崎染工場で藍染めの道具発見されたことがきっかけで、藍の復活が始まったのです。
復活したあおもりの藍。その品質の良さから、宇宙船の船内服にも選ばれて宇宙に羽ばたき、
今年２月には、国のクールジャパン戦略の事業で開催されたニューヨークの展示会にも、
日本の代表として登場！
ファッションにうるさい（？）ニューヨークっ子をして「beautiful」と言わしめたそうです。
そして本日から、満を持して、三越伊勢丹さんの基幹店のひとつ伊勢丹新宿本店で、
あおもり藍で染められた商品がこれでもか、これでもか、というくらいに登場！
三越伊勢丹さんが2011年から実施している「JAPAN SENSES」（ジャパン センスィズ）の2014年度最初の取組で、「あおもり藍」が取り上げられたのです。
店舗内の30を超える超有名ブランドが、あおもり藍のデニム、シャツ、シューズ、バッグなど数多くのアイテムを作り上げ、展示販売を行います。
また、このイベントに合わせ、店内のレストランやお店でも、あおもり県産品を使ったメニューや商品を販売。伊勢丹新宿本店の2014年度は、青森一色でスタートです！
2014年度は、サッカーのワールドカップイヤーです。
ブラジルのスタジアムでは、JAPAN BLUEのユニフォームを着た選手がピッチが躍動することでしょう。
日本ではもちろん、このAOMORI BLUEが飛躍する年になりそうです。
