アメリカのケネディ駐日大使が就任以来初めて青森県を訪問し、縄文時代の大規模な集落跡がある青森市の三内丸山遺跡を視察したほか、県内の女性起業家たちと交流を深めました。
ケネディ大使は、１０日午前、就任以来初めて青森県を訪れ、青森市の三内丸山遺跡で青山副知事や県の職員などの歓迎を受けました。ケネディ大使は、三内丸山遺跡で行われた今年度の発掘調査の開始式に立ち会い「発掘調査の成功を期待しています。私も日本の昔の人たちの歴史を知るために多くのことを学びたいと思います」とあいさつし、発掘にあたる１３人の作業員一人ひとりに激励の言葉をかけていました。このあと、ケネディ大使は、高さおよそ１５メートルもある６本の柱を使って復元された縄文時代の巨大な建造物を見学し青森県などが三内丸山遺跡の世界文化遺産への登録を目指していることなどについて県の担当者から説明を受けていました。青森県などによりますと、ケネディ大使は考古学に関心があり日本の縄文時代を代表する三内丸山遺跡を訪れることを楽しみにしていたということです。
ケネディ大使は三内丸山遺跡で発掘されたおよそ５０００年前の縄文時代の土器に触れるなどして日本の縄文文化に親しんでいました。このあと午後には、青森市の観光施設「ねぶたの家ワ・ラッセ」を訪れ、県内で活躍している女性の起業家たちとの意見交換会に出席しました。この意見交換会は、女性の社会進出について地方で活躍する女性の話を聞きたいというケネディ大使の希望で開かれたということで、八戸市のＮＰＯ法人の理事長や農産物を販売する三戸町の会社の代表など女性の起業家５人が参加しました。
意見交換会は、およそ４０分間にわたって非公開で行われ参加者によりますとケネディ大使は、インターネットなどを通じて女性が世界とつながりを持ち、ビジネスを起こすことができることや、日本の地方でも、起業する女性が増えることを願っていると話したということです。意見交換会に参加した八戸市のＮＰＯ法人の理事長、町田直子さんは「同じ女性で、国を代表するような方と話ができ、自信になりましたしますます仕事を頑張ろうという気持ちになりました」と話していました。意見交換会のあとケネディ大使は去年の青森ねぶた祭で運行された大型ねぶたを見学し、お囃子に合わせて太鼓をたたくなどして祭りの雰囲気を楽しんでいました。
