アメリカ・ロサンゼルスのハリウッドで１１月２９日、恒例のクリスマスパレードが行われ、今年は青森の「ねぶた」が初登場した。ハリウッドのクリスマスパレードは、ハリウッドスターの手形などが並ぶ観光名所に作られた約５キロのコースで毎年この時期に行われる。「スター・ウォーズ」などさまざまな映画のキャラクターがパレードする中、今年は青森県の「ねぶた」が初登場し、踊り手たちとともに勇壮にハリウッドを練り歩いた。源義経が太平洋を渡ってハリウッドに上陸するのを表現した「ねぶた」は、青森から送った部品をロサンゼルスで約３か月かけて組み立てたという。
