“スター・ウォーズ”の最新作にして新たな3部作の1作目『スター・ウォーズ/フォースの覚醒』の12月18日(金)公開を記念して、東京・汐留にある日本テレビ2階の日テレホールにて「『スター・ウォーズ/フォースの覚醒』公開記念 ～スター・ウォーズの世界～フォース・フォー・ジャパン～」が、12月18日(金)より12月29日(火)まで開催される。

今回は2015年、日本各地で披露されたアートの数々を一挙に展示する。中でも注目は、8月に開催された青森県のねぶたまつりに登場し、大きな話題を呼んだルーカスフィルム公認の“スター・ウォーズねぶた”だ。キャラクターが迫力満点に描かれた全4台のねぶたを間近に見られる貴重な機会となる。
また、先日清水寺でお披露目された“「スター・ウォーズ/フォースの覚醒」風神雷神図屏風”と“覚醒の書”も展示。優雅なタッチで風神として描かれたヒロインのレイ、そして不気味さが漂う悪役、雷神カイロ・レンの姿を堪能できる。
■ 世界初の“BB-8アート”企画に約20名の著名人が参加
最新作に登場するキャラクター、BB-8をデザインした“BB-8アート”企画には造形作家の岸啓介、フラワー・デザイナーのニコライ・バーグマン、アートディレクターの増田セバスチャンらが参加。他にも片岡鶴太郎、田辺誠一、中川翔子、片桐仁、速水もこみち、マギー、ユージ、ぺこ＆りゅうちぇるなど、さまざまなジャンルで活躍する著名人やアーティストが、それぞれの感性でデザインしたBB-8を披露する。
“大好きなハン・ソロさまとチューバッカを描きました。ルークもレイアもC-3POもR2-D2も…みんな愛おしい”という中川翔子は、BB-8のボディを宇宙に見立て、大好きなキャラクターたちを星座のように配置した作品を制作中だそう。他にもカイロ・レンをモチーフにした羽子板や、おなじみのキャラクターを描いた将棋の盤と駒(山形)など日本ならではの作品が登場する。
