八戸地方に春の訪れを告げる「八戸えんぶり」は17日、開幕する。八戸、階上、南部、おいらせの4市町から32のえんぶり組が参加し、20日まで4日間にわたって勇壮な摺（す）りと舞を披露する。開幕前日の16日、えんぶり組は続々と長者山新羅神社に入り、夜を徹して本番を待った。行列の順番を決める17日午前0時の「仮札（かりふだ）」の受け付けを前に、16日午後8時ごろには6組のえんぶり組が長者山に到着。境内の一角に陣取ってたき火を囲み、お囃子（はやし）を響かせながら気持ちを高めた。一番乗りしたのは、南部町の福田上えんぶり組。昨年は2番手で、今年は初の一番札を目指して13日夜に入山したという。親方の工藤俊司さん（53）は「疲れなんかない。どんどん気持ちが高まっている」と気合十分。開幕に向け、「一番札に恥じないようなえんぶりを皆さんに見せたい」と意気込んだ。17日は午前7時から長者山で奉納摺りを行い、同10時に行列が鍛冶町を出発。目玉の一斉摺りは、八戸市中心街で午前10時40分から約40分間行われる。午後1時からは、市公会堂でえんぶり公演を開催。出店が並ぶ市庁前市民広場では同6時から、かがり火えんぶりが開かれる。青森地方気象台によると、17日の天気は朝方は曇り、昼前から晴れる見込み。最高気温4度で、平年よりやや暖かい中でのえんぶりとなりそうだ。
