青森市は4月から、市営バス通勤定期券の利用者向け新サービスとして、週末や祝日に定期券の表示区間以外へも運賃100円で行ける特別割引制度「エコ100定期」を始める。通勤定期券の利用拡大と休日のバス利用者増に加え、マイカー利用を抑えることで地球温暖化など環境への負荷を抑えることが目的。通勤定期券の利用者と一緒にバスに乗る家族も、100円ずつ払えば最大5人まで同乗できるようになる。エコ100定期を実施するのは、市営バス・市民バスの全路線で、利用できるのは土曜・日曜日、祝日のほか、（8月13日）と年末年始（12月29日～1月3日）。対象は通勤定期券のみで、通学定期券の利用者は含まれない。関連の予算案が、開会中の定例市議会で審議されている。同乗する家族が割引を受けるには、料金支払時にバス乗務員に通勤定期券を示し、同乗者数を伝える。小学生や障害者、高齢者向けの既存の割引を利用する場合は、同乗者として伝える必要はない。市交通部によれば、市営バスの通勤定期券の発行枚数は、2013年度実績で約4800枚あった。一方で、休日のバス利用者数は平日の約6割にとどまっており、エコ100定期の実施には、バス事業の経営安定に向けた固定客確保の狙いもある。市交通部は「通勤定期券を示してくれれば、家族との続柄を確認するために身分証の提示を求めるようなことはない気軽に利用してほしい」としている。エコ100定期の利用に関する問い合わせは市交通部管理課（電話017-726-5441）
