東北三大祭りで有名な青森のねぶた祭、秋田の竿燈（かんとう）まつり、仙台の七夕まつり…。こうした夏の夜空に映える“祭りのあかり”をはじめ、日本各地で愛され続けた「和のあかり」が、歴史ある文化財を彩るイルミネーションとして登場。ここなら、風情ある「和」のイルミネーションを明るいうちから堪能できるはず。
2015年7月3日（金）から8月9日（日）まで、目黒雅叙園内の東京都指定有形文化財「百段階段」で、「和のあかり×百段階段」展が開催。百段階段にある7つの部屋に暗幕を張り、「葛飾北斎と江戸職人のあかり」や「草木のあかり」など、それぞれに趣向を凝らしたあかりで室内を彩るのだそう。展示の目玉は、若きねぶた師集団「ねぶた屋」が取り組んだ「祭りのあかり」。釘一本打てないという文化財の部屋に、4人のねぶた師がそれぞれ制作した「酒呑童子」がテーマのねぶたの頭を組み立てることで、室内にねぶたの山車を再現したというもの。5mもの高さがあるねぶたの山車をこれほど近くで見るのは祭りのときでも難しいのだとか。 「こちらはねぶた史上初となる流派を超えた合同作品。また、有形文化財の“百段階段”と無形文化財の“ねぶた”がコラボする初の試みは、青森の地元でも注目されています」と、広報担当の芳賀さん。このほか、2016年に開館予定の「すみだ北斎美術館」所蔵の浮世絵を和紙の行燈に仕上げた「葛飾北斎のあかり」や、500個の江戸風鈴を配した「夏のあかり」などもあって、“日本の夏”を満喫できそう。また、展覧会のチケットと浴衣のセット＆着付けがついたおトクなランチプラン(日本料亭「渡風亭」10186円：税別・サービス料込）も。午前中から随時行われるそうなので、まずは電話で予約を。浴衣姿で鑑賞すれば、祭りの気分が盛り上がるはず。特に今回は、企画展史上初めて、全時間帯で写真撮影が可能なのも嬉しいところ。
カフェ＆バー「結庵」などで、今回出展される葛飾北斎の「浮世絵行燈」をヒントにした、コラボカクテル「北斎」も登場。展覧会のチケットとコラボカクテルにオードブルが各1点ずつセットになったプラン(2500円：税・サ込）もあるそう。さらに、予約制でレストランでの美食と建築特別ガイドさんの解説がついたスペシャルな「夜の文化財ガイドツアー」（予約制、8000円～：税・サ込）もあ。知的な体験をプラスしたければ、こちらもオススメ。
日本情緒豊かな「和のあかり」で夏の風情を楽しめる展示は、女友達とでも彼とでも特別な思い出になりそう。
